Context

Kay’s textiles draw their vocabulary from process. It is important that they hold the significance of the involvement of making and in Kay’s practice she borrows from the quilt maker and the basket maker to show links between the indigenous and the contemporary maker.

Currently Kay is working with natural geometry to understand how this is represented in the textiles of the indigenous artist. The way cloth, blanket or quilt is apportioned continues to have meaning; a simple bold statement of intent. Kay uses mark to stitch and line to construct.
