Context
Chris Harley's passion to travel and experience the textiles unique in every culture is a driving force in her life. Chris loves the rich tactile feel of old textiles that carry in their colour, pattern and smell the lives of the people who have stitched them in the past and of the lives of the people who strive to produce textiles viable in the commercial world of today. In her work Chris aims to capture the essence of these experiences, to promote through cloth, colour and stitch an expression of the people, landscapes and cultures she has encountered.
Chris has a number of interesting textiles collected during her travels in India, South East Asia, Africa and South America. While inspiring and informing her stitched pieces she is happy to share them with likeminded people who are welcome to contact her if they are interested. Mainly for display and study but some are for sale.
