Context
Liz Harding’s work has always taken the human figure or the landscape as its starting point. These themes are used to explore a fascination with pictorial space. The action and reaction of colour, the rhythm of line and relationships between forms are all important in this exploration.
The medium of textiles with its subtleties of texture and the excitement of the marks of colour made with stitch is the means of recording ideas and images. Liz aims to share a sensation, a narrative, or a history with the viewer by recording the ordinary, which is always extraordinary. Current work is focussed on her immediate local landscape, apparently ordinary, but always extraordinary.
